Chicago to teach Kindergartners sex education

Pretty early age to be teaching kids that. I’d have to see the actual curriculum to have a more in-depth opinion on it. On another note, I’m not sure why you see this as another excuse to hire more teachers. This can be done in a life skills class in appropriate grades to be determined by schools. Put aside this particular age level, do you have a problem with sex education in general?
Ps. Did you really suggest that Chicago Public Schools should teach them how to use guns? Really?

Michelle, I understand your view regarding reading proficiency and the stance that core problems within the school system need to be addressed. However, educating children, even as young as kindergartners, has a lot of merit and your position completely shadows the reasoning behind its implementation. The objective is not to glorify sex, teach these kids about transmitted diseases, or to provide them with inappropriate content. The point behind this program is to provide these kids with a foundation they are obviously not receiving at home. 1 in 5 kids are touched inappropriately, 75% of teen moms come from single family households, this program is in place to educate these children as to what is appropriate, and to maybe offer them the knowledge to act preemptively to avoid following in their parents footsteps.
I think it’s quite hilarious how prudish society is towards the education of sex, when 75% of Americans by age 20 have had premarital sex. 20/20 is releasing reports about sex in middle school. It’s time to understand that education is power, and if you offer these children the ability to understand what is right and wrong, and what is expected of them, I believe they will be able to make better decisions as they grow up.
You’re also a doorknob for suggesting on national television that the education system teaches kids how to use guns.
